BUZZARD, BAT, BUMBLEBEE and PEOPLE

BUZZARD
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open
at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the  ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.

BAT
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkably nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.

   BUMBLEBEE
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.

  PEOPLE
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up.

Good cup-o-joe

You've thought about it, too.

A tired homemaker opened the front door of her home to find a young minister from the neighborhood who said, "I'm collecting donations for the new children's home we're building. I hope you'll give what you can." "To be sure," said the beleaguered woman, "I'll give you two boys, two girls, or one of each."

LIFE

"I am come that they may have Life, and have it in abundance" (John 10:10b).

Christ is Life. Where is your life? Is it in a church? Is it in a ministry? Is it in a series of mountaintop experiences? Is it in a system of worship or prayer or spiritual exercises? It is possible to have all this as something apart from Christ. How do I know it is possible? Because I have sought all those things for myself and discovered that it is possible to have those things and not have Christ. That is not to say that they do not leave a good feeling or make one think he is spiritual - but Christ is not in my feelings and He is not in my emotion.

Those who hunger and thirst after Righteousness - Christ - will be filled. Thus, the one who is filled is never hungry or thirsty. So on the one hand I want to know the Lord and my desire for Him increases day by day; but it is not the desperate search of a hungry or thirsty man who is fainting and wasting away. I am full of Him because He fills me. There is my "Life, and Life more abundantly." My Life is not in what He gives me, but in Who He is.

Stradivarius violin

Some time ago, I was over at a friends home they had an need to open the china cabinet which was locked. Since they had lost the key they asked me if I knew of any way of opening the cabinet with out breaking the glass. I studied the cabinet and came up with a solution. Upon opening the cabinet they wanted to reward me. I declined. Somehow the conversation came around to violins. Char excused herself and went up in the attic. Several minutes later she returned with a small case, a violin case. She wanted to give me the  violin for opening the china cabinet. I opened the case and took out the violin and a bow. The horsehair needed to be replaced but there was enough on the bow to have me play the instrument. I have never played a violin but I did know when it was out of tune. I made some adjustments to the strings and it sounded better. After I tired of playing I was about to put the violin away when I noticed the makers name on the inside, Stradivarius. My eyes grew big. I wondered if it was original, but didn't feel comfortable asking. I knew my friends family were very well off financially. They were also Dutch. I believe the violin was a true Stradivarius. I declined the offer to accept the violin as a gift citing it was a pleasure.
