Discipleship

'Christians in the West have largely neglected what it means to be a disciple of Christ. The vast majority of Western Christians are church members, pew-fillers, hymn-singers, sermon-tasters, Bible-readers, even born-again believers or Spirit-filled charismatics but not true disciples of Jesus.
If we were willing to learn the meaning of true discipleship and actually become disciples, the church in the west would be transformed, and the resultant impact on society would be staggering. This is no idle claim. It happed in the first century. In view of the urgency of the times, we must live lives that honor Christ...This is not a day in which to play religious games. Time is running out fast.'

David Watson
British writer in his book on Discipleship

  • Great thought today! This last week in our Sunday group the question was asked that since Paul told the Corinthians to imitate him because he imitated Christ, can we make the same statement? I am afraid to answer that question some days! Dicipleship is quickly becoming a lost dicipline! BBT
